2005 Artists for Artists
Art Auction: A Night to Remember
On May 19th, PWM
and Fasken Martineau presented the 3rd Artists
for Artists Art Auction, a unique gala fundraiser with 35 renowned
contemporary visual artists from across the country helping to
raise funds for their colleagues in the theatre world by donating
their artwork.
Held at the National Theatre
School of Canada, the evening began with cocktails and
hors d'oeuvres as John Sadowy tinkled the ivories
and guests had a chance to peruse the 39 works of art that would
later be up for auction. There were seemingly endless platters
of food from Café la Coulisse, Ichi Sushi, Kandybar
Cuisine, and Restaurant Om, and the
bar was well stocked with wine from Univins, Boreale beer
and Oasis Juice. After welcoming speeches by
Alexis Diamond, Gabriel Safdie and Paula
Danckert, guest host George Bowser opened
the bidding and the Auction began: we raised over $20,000!
