The Gros Morne Playwrights’ Residency brings French and English playwrights from across Canada together to write, dream, share and create. Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal (PWM) and le Centre des auteurs dramatiques (CEAD) in partnership with Creative Gros Morne, the Bonne Bay Aquarium, the Cole Foundation, and Artistic Fraud, the program offers dramaturgy in both official languages. Selected playwrights fly to the Bonne Bay Marine Station at Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland for a ten-day retreat where they can benefit from a combination of unstructured writing time, individual dramaturgical sessions, and daily formalized exchanges on process. Located on Newfoundland’s breathtaking west coast within the vibrant community of Norris Point, the Bonne Bay Marine Station is beautifully set up for an artistic residency that inspires new work.
The Gros Morne Playwrights’ Residency has become the cornerstone for national exchange. Through this Residency, programmed in partnership with the CEAD, we are confronting barriers, exchanging ideas, cultural perspectives and creative practice.

Eligibility criteria
– applicants must be available for the whole residency
– applicants must be willing to participate in all activities prepared for the residency
– the play submitted for consideration should be in the early stages of development (first draft or slightly beyond)
