What's New at PWM?

Playwrights' Workshop Montréal is a nationally mandated Canadian play development organization and a professional theatre centre dedicated to the development of contemporary Canadian work and new writers for the stage. A member-based organization, our objective is to provide a critical and vibrant environment for the playwright to further his or her craft and prepare new scripts for production. From our home base, a bright loft in Montréal 's Mile End district, we work with writers across the country and beyond.

Playwrights' Workshop is Canada's oldest play development centre. PWM is affiliated with the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF), and employs members of the Canadian Actors' Equity Association (CAEA) and l'Union Des Artistes (UDA)

Our work exists between a playwright's first idea for a script and the play's final production draft. PWM is a non-producing theatre company, with a focus on the playwright. We are a resource for both writers and producing theatres, furthering the art of dramaturgy and new play development. Our programs include One-on-One Dramaturgy, In-House Readings and Workshops, Translation Projects, Radio Drama commissions for broadcast, Artist Residencies , Master Classes and other activities aimed at enriching the skills of playwriting while remaining flexible to the needs of the writer.
