In-House Workshops provide playwrights with
the opportunity to hear their work among their colleagues in a rehearsal
environment. The script is read by a cast of professional actors,
after which it is subject to intensive analysis through dialogue
between the dramaturg and the playwright.
In-House Workshops provide playwrights with input from other artists
on plays already well into the development process. Rather than
being a final assessment of the work, the workshop gives the playwright
information essential to the completion of a production draft of
a script because it allows him or her to hear the play's lines read
aloud. We hold approximately fifteen workshops a year; the exact
number is determined by the readiness of scripts submitted by our
writing and student members.
