  Production dramaturgy

This activity is the culmination of our practice in developing a play for production. A Production Dramaturg participates in rehearsal of the first production of a new play. He or she is constantly available for consultation with the artistic team to review script changes and solve theatrical problems that only become evident through regular rehearsal. The dramaturg also provides historical background, philosophical and linguistic contexts, and other research essential for the script's realization.

Over the past two years, we have seen several projects through to the stage of Production Dramaturgy, the three most notable being Burning Vision by Marie Clements, The Swanne by Peter Hinton and Between Lovers by Sherri-D Wilson. In each case, Production Dramaturgy has been a natural extension of the work previously done with the writer and the script.
