  The work

Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal occupies a vital place in the ecology of Canadian theatre. In the past three years alone, over 200 plays developed through PWM have gone on to production. Theatres such as Halifax’s Neptune, the Centaur Theatre, the National Arts Centre, Canadian Stage Company, Toronto’s Factory Theatre, the Stratford Festival, Alberta Theatre Projects, Winnipeg’s Prairie Theatre Exchange and the Vancouver Playhouse are only a few of the companies that have produced plays that were developed at Playwrights’ Workshop.

PWM has supported hundreds of playwrights across the country, including such distinguished artists as David Fennario and Carole Fréchette and Governor General’s Literary Award winners such as Linda Gaboriau and Kent Stetson. We employ over 200 artists each year through our workshops and our professional development programs.
