Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal occupies a vital place in the
ecology of Canadian theatre. In the past three years alone, over
70 plays developed through PWM have gone on to production. Theatres
such as Halifax’s Neptune, the Centaur Theatre, the National
Arts Centre, Canadian Stage Company, Toronto’s Factory Theatre,
the Stratford Festival, Alberta Theatre Projects, Winnipeg’s
Prairie Theatre Exchange and the Vancouver Playhouse have produced
plays that were developed at Playwrights’ Workshop. PWM has
supported hundreds of playwrights across the country, including
such distinguished artists as David Fennario and Carole
Fréchette and Governor General’s Literary Award
winners such as Linda Gaboriau and Kent Stetson. We employ over
100 artists each year through our workshops and our professional
development programs.
