At Playwrights’ Workshop Montr\u00e9al, theatre creators are able to boldly explore their work \u2013 take risks, fail, and try again \u2013  in order to bring innovative new works to audiences across the country. We understand the power of theatre to reflect and impact society, to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities, and to bring unique stories to light. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also know that the creative process needs time, space, and the support of a community<\/strong>. Shared effort from friends, colleagues, and collaborators is what allows theatre to flourish. We need your help to continue removing barriers, facilitating programs, and offering dramaturgical collaboration to make creators’ visions a reality. Every one of us has a part in this process.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help us continue to offer essential support<\/strong> to theatre creators, particularly those from underrepresented communities, allowing them to develop their craft and create work that innovates and inspires<\/strong> audiences across Canada, we invite you to support our end-of-year fundraising campaign, Impact Creation<\/em><\/strong>. Our goal is to reach $6000.00<\/strong> in donations by December 31st: Every donation strengthens our ability to assist artists at each step of their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YOUR IMPACT WILL BE DOUBLED THIS DECEMBER!<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Monthly donations<\/strong> help us respond to emerging project needs\u2014a vital resource for artists<\/strong>. This December only, Chris Black and Paul Butler<\/strong> and the PWM Board of Directors<\/strong> have generously offered to match first-time monthly donations<\/strong>! And for those of you already donating monthly, please consider increasing your contribution: Newly increased monthly contribution amounts will also be matched<\/strong> in full for the duration of Impact Creation 2024! (For example, if you currently donate $15\/month and increase your monthly donation to $18 in December, this will mean PWM will receive $36!). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*New and increased monthly donations will be matched up to a total of $700 this December only; $250 in matches pledged by Chris Black and Paul Butler, and $450 from the PWM Board of Directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a gift of $18 or more each month, you\u2019ll receive a special gift of a published play*<\/strong> developed in collaboration with PWM, autographed by the playwright<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Examples include Jabber<\/em> by Marcus Youssef, Squawk<\/em> by Megan Gail Coles, Instant <\/em>by Erin Shields, Andy\u2019s Gone<\/em> by Marie-Claude Verdier and translated by Alexis Diamond, and Everybody Just C@lm The F#ck Down<\/em> by Robert Chafe. This year, cockroach (\u66f1\u7534)<\/em> by Ho Ka Kei (Jeff Ho) will be added to the selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, your donations<\/strong> support new theatre creation through:
\u2013 30 play development workshops<\/strong>, where everyone is compensated for their contributions;
\u2013 75 one-on-one dramaturgical consultations<\/strong>, including digital dramaturgy clinics, offered free of charge;
\u2013 20 mentorships<\/strong> that connect artists with industry professionals;
\u2013 2 national residencies<\/strong> where all travel, accommodations, and meals are provided;
\u2013 4 professional development workshops<\/strong> for the artistic community to learn or hone new skills;
\u2013 Ongoing initiatives<\/strong> to strengthen accessibility and inclusion;
\u2013 And much more!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

OUR INTERCONNECTED COMMUNITY CROSSWORD PUZZLE<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finally, PWM\u2019s fundraiser has a tradition of celebrating<\/strong> the past year\u2019s collaborations and achievements in the form of a crossword puzzle<\/strong>. You are sure to recognize plays and people in this puzzle, and if you don\u2019t know an answer, that\u2019s okay: we encourage you to look things up<\/strong>\u2013It\u2019s a chance to get to know your community even better!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every correctly completed puzzle is entered into a draw<\/strong>, giving you the chance to win your choice of a published play developed in collaboration with PWM! Submit by December 31, 2024 for your chance to win!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can fill in the puzzle, print it out or take a screenshot, and email a picture of the completed puzzle to heather@playwrights.ca<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
