Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Ottawa en th\u00e9\u00e2tre puis du Conservatoire d\u2019art dramatique de Qu\u00e9bec en interpr\u00e9tation, elle a assur\u00e9 la direction artistique et g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Catapulte de 2017 \u00e0 2023. Elle a jou\u00e9 au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Trident, \u00e0 la Bord\u00e9e, \u00e0 Premier Acte, au P\u00e9riscope, au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre la Licorne, au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Denise-Pelletier, ainsi qu\u2019en tourn\u00e9e \u00e0 travers le pays, notamment avec Un. Deux. Trois.<\/em> de Mani Soleymanlou. Elle a sign\u00e9 trois traductions pour le th\u00e9\u00e2tre (The Art of the Fall<\/em>, Avant l’archipel<\/em>, Beyond the night sky<\/em>).\u00c0 l\u2019automne 2023, elle a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le premier chapitre de son projet de th\u00e9\u00e2tre documentaire sur la langue fran\u00e7aise, Oh ! Canada – Chapitre 1: L’Est du pays<\/em> qui jouera prochainement \u00e0 La Nouvelle Sc\u00e8ne Gilles Desjardins, la Salle Fred-Barry du Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Denise-Pelletier et au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Bic \u00e0 Rimouski. Plus r\u00e9cemment, elle a jou\u00e9 dans Durant des ann\u00e9es<\/em> de Louis-Philippe Roy, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 aux Zones th\u00e9\u00e2trales et au Carrefour international de th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Qu\u00e9bec en 23-24. Elle signe la mise en sc\u00e8ne de La Trajectoire des confettis<\/em> au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Trident en avril 2025 et assure la co-mise en sc\u00e8ne et dramaturgie du projet pancanadien Nuits claires<\/em> du Th\u00e9\u00e2tre fran\u00e7ais du Centre national des arts en 2024-2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

“As the translator of Hope Town<\/em> by Pascale Renaud-H\u00e9bert, I am thrilled to be bringing this emotionally charged and multifaceted play to an English-speaking audience. Set in a small town in the Gaspesian peninsula, the story unravels the tense relationships among family members grappling with secrets, lies, and unresolved pasts. In translating, I will aim to preserve the raw, authentic voice of the original French while ensuring that the nuances of the dialogue, deeply rooted in realism and a tight, precise Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois language, are conveyed accurately. The project will be a rewarding challenge in reflecting the emotional intensity and dramatic depth of Renaud-H\u00e9bert’s work.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theatre translations are instrumental in bridging linguistic barriers, and the Mentorat pour traductrices et traducteurs \u00e9mergents de la Fondation Cole<\/em> is a cornerstone of our mission to exchange ideas, cultural perspectives, and creative practice. Since its inception in 2013, the Mentorat pour traductrices et traducteurs \u00e9mergents de la Fondation Cole<\/em> has been providing opportunities for the next generation of French to English theatre translators to hone their craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danielle will benefit from the support and skilled guidance of acclaimed translator Maureen Labont\u00e9<\/a> for a year-long mentorship, where they will have the chance to dive into every stage of the process in writing a new translation of a play. In partnership with the Fondation Cole<\/a>, PWM has supported the creative and professional development of ten other theatre translators through the Mentorat pour traductrices et traducteurs \u00e9mergents de la Fondation Cole<\/em>, sharing our knowledge and experience to welcome new voices to the field.\u00a0Learn more about the program here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
