Nous sommes ravis d'annoncer que le Playwrights\u2019 Workshop Montr\u00e9al<\/strong> (PWM), LA SERRE\u2013arts vivants<\/strong><\/a> (LA SERRE) and the Conseil des Arts de Montr\u00e9al<\/strong><\/a> (CAM) are launching a new program offering comprehensive dramaturgical and artistic support to a professional playwright residing on the island of Montreal. This includes dramaturgical consultation, creation workshop, a creation production residency, followed by a laboratory presentation.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The following playwrights are eligible to submit proposals: Indigenous artists (First Nations, M\u00e9tis, and Inuit), 1st<\/sup> or 2nd<\/sup> generation immigrant artists from a culturally diverse community*, or racialized artists. <\/strong>
Board Members of CAM, PWM and La Serre are not eligible to apply.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*As defined in the Conseil des Arts de Montr\u00e9al’s glossary<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to support artists writing in French and artists writing in English, this program is being offered alternately by the Centre des auteurs dramatiques<\/a> (CEAD) in French one year, and by PWM in English every other year. This edition is intended for artists creating in the English language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE GOALS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program aims to highlight the artistic and social contributions of theatre artists from culturally diverse, indigenous, or racialized communities working creatively in one of Canada\u2019s official languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, it seeks to foster dialogue between Montr\u00e9al\u2019s English- and French-speaking theatre communities, as well as intercultural exchanges and greater representation from culturally diverse artists within the theatre community and on Montreal stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONSEIL DES ARTS DE MONTR\u00c9AL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1956, the Conseil des arts de Montr\u00e9al identifies, supports and recognizes excellence in the professional creation, production and dissemination of the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To remain in tune with the organizations and collectives it serves, the Conseil relies on its knowledge of the communities, its innovative skills, and its ability to bring the city\u2019s artists and financial partners together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PLAYWRIGHTS\u2019 WORKSHOP MONTR\u00c9AL <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

PWM is a national new creation centre for theatre and performance led by a team of dramaturgs and arts administrators. While playwriting has been at the core of what we do for over 50 years, our work now strives to include devised and interdisciplinary forms of creation. In addition to seeking collaborations across diverse artistic practices, we are strongly committed to supporting work which reflects a wide range of cultural identities and lived experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qu'est-ce que la dramaturgie, et que faisons-nous?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La dramaturgie est une exploration de tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments composant une \u0153uvre, de la mani\u00e8re dont ils sont r\u00e9unis pour cr\u00e9er du sens, et du processus de d\u00e9veloppement de cette \u0153uvre. PWM travaille principalement sur des projets centr\u00e9s sur le texte et la narration, mais aussi sur des pi\u00e8ces o\u00f9 le texte et la narration ne sont pas les principales composantes ou pr\u00e9occupations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le travail de PWM est centr\u00e9 sur l\u2019artiste et notre processus de collaboration dynamique est con\u00e7u pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins de leur projet. Nous \u00e9coutons attentivement pour comprendre l'identit\u00e9 d'un.e artiste, ce qu'il.elle fait et comment il.elle souhaite poursuivre son travail. Nous offrons commentaires et retours \u00e0 travers de nombreuses questions et conversations, et accompagnons souvent les artistes d'\u00e9bauche en \u00e9bauche ou d'it\u00e9ration en it\u00e9ration. Nous travaillons en t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate, mais aussi au travers d'ateliers et de r\u00e9sidences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour nous, la dramaturgie doit \u00e9galement prendre en compte les r\u00e9verb\u00e9rations\/implications d'une \u0153uvre \u00e0 travers le temps et l'espace, au-del\u00e0 du lieu\/page dans\/sur laquelle elle se cr\u00e9e. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LA SERRE\u2013ARTS VIVANTS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

LA SERRE is a structuring incubator for the improvement of the conditions under which emerging artists carry out their work in live art. It accompanies them in the expansion of their work, from the creation process to encounters with the public. It helps artists develop their autonomy, organizational maturity and artistic independence. LA SERRE acts as an activator of collaborations between artists and local, national and international partners, as well as artists from various artistic disciplines and other areas. Artistically, LA SERRE favors projects that establish evocative links between art and society, and facilitate connections between different disciplinary fields and sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOUTIEN FOURNI<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The recipient of the program will receive a project creation grant of $13,000 by the CAM over two years, along with numerous services provided by PWM, LA SERRE, et CAM. This is a one-time, non-renewable grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
