Accessibility

Please note that Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal is not located in a fully accessible building. Our space is located above street level and is only accessible via a flight of stairs (ten steps).

Kéroul conducted an accessibility audit of our space in 2019. You may find additional information, including photographs of our space, on Keroul’s profile of Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal’s here.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at accessibility@playwrights.ca if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to assist you in entering the building.

All doorways and corridors in the building are wide enough to accommodate most visitors using assistive devices.

The building is equipped with a washroom that is wheelchair-accessible with help.

About Our Studio and Office Space

PWM’s space is located in studio 103 of the building. Although there are steps to reach this floor, once you arrive at the studio there are no more steps. We are striving to make the space accessible for as many people as possible, which is why we have also incorporated the following accommodations:

  • Dimmable overhead lighting in our shared office space and studio
  • Height-adjustable desks in our common working space
  • A calm room / quiet space is available for guests to use, including at in-person public events.

Assistive Devices

Seating accommodations can be made for visitors using assistive devices (canes, walkers, wheelchairs etc.) during events.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal. During events, seating accommodations can be made for visitors accompanied by service animals.

Feedback and Commitment to Improvement

Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal is committed to improving the accessibility of our space and of our services. In the 2020-21 season, we consulted with Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant Clary Chambers, and with artists in the community to gather feedback, insights and suggestions on how to improve our physical, cultural and digital accessibility.

Accessibility concerns are central to how we structure our programs, and we’ve learned a lot from our Accessibility Committee conversations. Click here to read more about the work done by PWM’s accessibility committee.

We are always thankful for any feedback.
