Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal (PWM) is a national new play creation centre established to support the development of professional playwrights and contemporary work for the stage. Our core programming is designed to advance the artistic practice of emerging and established English language professional theatre artists, and to develop, support and disseminate their work. The commissioning and dramaturgy of work in translation is also an important component of our programming. Our focus is the process of development, whether written or devised, at all stages of creation.
Founded in 1963 and incorporated in 1966, PWM’s objective is to provide a critical and vibrant environment for the creation of new work for the stage. From our home base, a bright loft in Montréal’s Plateau district, we work with creators across the country and beyond.
